Kyle Nitka started fishing when he was 2 years old and started fly fishing at 4. Soon after that he began to tie flies and that, as they say, is that. Kyle grew up fishing central Pennsylvania’s wild trout streams and bass rivers as well as the tributaries to the Great Lakes Erie and Ontario for steelhead and lake run browns. Kyle’s favorite species to target on the fly is trout. You can also find him hunting walleye, musky and smallmouth bass as well. Kyle’s main love is central Pennsylvania and the mountain streams of northern Pennsylvania. When not in class at Penn State University York campus, Kyle is out chasing tails and perfecting the techniques that make us successful in the area.
Doug always had a strong passion for the outdoors, but it wasn’t until his family began visiting a dude ranch in southern Wyoming that his love for fly fishing became so apparent. After years of fly fishing exclusively while he was at the ranch, Doug started to explore fishing opportunities in the Northeast. Fly fishing soon became a full-blown addiction and he quickly began to look for avenues to channel his newborn passion. Exploring Pennsylvania’s endless trout waters quickly became a way of life. In August 2013 Doug became a member of the United States Youth Fly Fishing Team and since then has been traveling around the country fishing different competitions, events and locations. Since joining the team Doug has had the honor of competing in two Youth World Fly Fishing Championships, Vail Colorado in 2015 as a ghost, and Santiago de Compostela, Spain in 2016, helping to secure team gold and silver respectively. He has also been a featured fly tier at the International Fly Tying Symposium in Somerset, New Jersey. Anchored outside Philadelphia, Doug fishes multiple times a week venturing to all corners of the world in search of large trout. Looking ahead, he is excited to be a part of the Chasing Tails team and can’t wait for many more great days on the water to come!
