The west branch of the codorus creek is one of the best and also little know tail water in York County Pennsylvania. Designated a Cass "A" Wild trout stream by PA Fish and Boat Commission for its substantial population of wild brown trout,  this stream is a spring creek look-a-like with its clear slow runs filled with underwater vegetation that is prime habitat for cressbug and scuds. The stream is fishable all year around within the west branch just 2 miles below the dam discharge.
